Morro Bay Triathlon starts in a protected bay in clear, cool water. Dive into our well-marked buoy course for your Olympic or Sprint triathlon!

Bike

We take you through the quaint coastal towns of Morro Bay and Cayucos, sandwiching the Pacific Coast Highway 1 views of the Pacific Ocean and surfers ripping the waves.

Run

This asphalt, hard-packed soil, boardwalk, and hard-packed sand loop ends with a strong finish as your name is called in front of The Rock!

Swim 2 counterclockwise loops on the south side of Morro Rock, getting out and going over the mat to register the laps. Always swim with the buoys on your left. Click here to view up to date water quality reports in Morro Bay.

There will be police helping guide traffic on the course. This year will be lane closures – you’ll be able to ride smoothly throughout the course without stopping. All athletes must follow the rules of the road. Our spectacular bike course starts and finish on the Morro Bay Embarcadero and gives a sampling of Hwy 1, the coast and beautiful Cayucos, there will be an aid station approximately half way through the ride. “It was so fun and not too hard and SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. And all the tough spots had CHP and/or volunteers directing traffic which was so awesome. And the course was verrry well-marked.” – L. Schwartzman

STAGING

Please put your watercraft on the beach to the side of the start arch. You will have a water start, so position on the beach is unimportant.

You will need to source your own craft, unfortunately. We have not found a rental company willing to supply us with rentals this year.
