Celebrate Earth Day with Mountain Area Preservation (MAP) at the Downtown Community Arts Center in Truckee on Friday, April 20th from 5-9pm for an evening full of award winning films focused on adventure, activism and conservation.
This is the third Wild & Scenic Film Festival hosted by MAP in Truckee, CA. On Friday, MAP kicks off the film festival weekend with three hours of inspiring films, a raffle, local entertainment, food and libations at the Community Arts Center. On Sunday, April 22nd from noon to 4pm MAP is hosting a stewardship project at the Trout Creek Pocket park to clean up the creek, plant native species and celebrate Earth Day by giving back to our local watershed.
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started by environmental advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) in 2003. The festival’s namesake is in celebration of SYRCL’s landmark victory to receive “Wild & Scenic” status for 39 miles of the South Yuba River in 1999. The festival is now in it’s 16th year and goes on tour all around the world by partnering with like minded environmental organizations such as MAP. The festival is building a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal, using films to inspire activism. With the support of their National Partners: Patagonia, CLIF Bar, Sierra Nevada Brewing, Klean Kanteen, Earthjustice, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Peak Design, the festival reaches an even larger audience in tour venues coast to coast.
Tickets will go on sale March 1st, 2018 – visit www.MountainAreaPreservation.org for more information.
