Grizzly Peak Century

Grizzly Peak Century

The 2024 Grizzly Peak Century will be held onย Sunday May 5, 2024.

Whereย New!

The main start/finish and post-ride meal location isย St Mary’s College, 1928 St Mary’s Rd, Moraga, CA. We also offer a car-free alternative start in Tilden Park. For details on both options see ourย Start Locations page.

Start Timesย New!

  • Check-in is 6:30 am to 7:30 am at St Mary’s for the 100 mi route.
  • Check-in is 7:30 am to 8:30 am at St Mary’s for all other routes, or 8:30 am to 11:30 am at Island Picnic Area in Tilden Park if you use the alternative car-free start.

Road Route Optionsย New!

All routes have been revised recently to avoid Wildcat Canyon Road, which is fully closed beyond Inspiration Point due to winter storm damage. If you are using GPS navigation, please make sure you have downloaded the latest updates.

There are four paved routes to choose from, all of them very hilly: 30 miles (new this year), 50 miles, 75 miles, and 100 miles. The 100 mile route differs from previous years. It starts earlier and does a full south loop first. For more information see theย Routes pages.

The 75 mile and 100 mile routes will again use a section of the San Francisco Bay Trail between Pinole and Rodeo. When you get to this section, be sure to slow down, be courteous to other trail users, and enjoy the view. Please don’t jeopardize our future use of this great resource!

Gravel Routeย New!

This year we offer a course of about 48 miles that includes about 19 miles of unpaved surface. It traverses Redwood and Tilden parks, and includes two rest stops that are shared with the road routes. For more information see theย Gravel Route page.

Fees

Entry fees for 2024 will be published here near the end of 2023. The ride is limited to 1,000 riders, so you should register early if possible. We will also have a variety of century-related items available for purchase when you register.

Where does my fee go?ย New!

We spend most of your entry fee on the food and services and venues needed to provide you with a great riding experience. Starting in 2022 we de-emphasized our goal of charitable fundraising and re-focused on keeping our event affordable and fun for our cycling community. We don’t want to lose money, but we aren’t pressured by a need for profit or donations either. Although the amount will be smaller than in past years, we still donate proceeds raised from our century to organizations and causes that promote or help bicycling in some way โ€” be it advocacy, safety, education, awareness, or the bicycling environment.

Century Prep Rides

Join us for a series of nine rides for intermediate bicyclists who want to build stamina and increase range. The rides will be on consecutive Sundays, beginning in March, and will gradually progress in distance from about 25 to about 55 miles. All are over moderately hilly terrain, similar to that of the century. Those who complete the series should be well-prepared to ride at least the 75 mile (metric century) route.

Event Cancellation Refund Policyย New!

With the exception of the Covid cancellation in 2020, our century has never been cancelled after registration opens. However, we recognize that wildfire, air quality, public road closures, extreme weather, pandemics, and other events outside our control could force a cancellation. Most of these events are no longer insurable. If cancellation is necessary, we will first pay all costs that we have incurred and cannot recover. Then we will refund the remainder to our registrants. We will not withhold funds for our club or for charitable donations.
