April 23, 2023, Fremont, California.
The Primavera Century covers some of the East Bay’s most scenic roads. The longer-distance routes ride past the historic Mission San Jose to the scenic Calaveras Reservoir (part of past Amgen Tour of California Routes and home to bald eagles), along beautiful tree lined lanes, through vineyards and scenic canyons. The 25-mile Fun Ride goes through Coyote Hills Park with abundant wildlife. Register at www.ffbc.org/primavera.
Century: 100 miles, 6100′ ascent
Travel through Fremont past historic Mission San Jose along the foothills up Calaveras Road and “the Wall”. Then enjoy sweeping views of Calaveras Reservoir along roads used for the Amgen Tour of California. If you are lucky, you will see Bald Eagles. Then it is to Sunol, Pleasanton, and down into Livermore along more Tour of California roads for lunch at Rios Lovell Winery. Then it’s back to Fremont for a hearty meal. Includes an option for a 90 mile ride.
The Perfect Metric: 100k, 63 miles, 4450′ ascent
Perhaps the best natural metric on the planet. Follow the full century route around Calaveras Reservoir without the loop through Livermore.
The Fun Ride: 25 miles, mostly flat, 450′ ascent
Travel through Coyote Hills Regional Park, and use a portion of the Alameda Creek Trail on this mostly flat, fun, and educational ride. This ride is suitable for newer riders or those just returning to bicycling. Medals for kids!
Continuing for 2023
Besides the wonderful exercise, camaraderie, quiet roads, and great scenery, the ride for 2023 features: goodie bags, clothes drops at three rest stops, and medals for kids completing the 25 mile Fun Ride.
