Sierra Skogsloppet XC Fun Ski Race

The Sierra Skogsloppet is a fun race is organized by Truckee High and Alder Creek Middle School cross country ski teams as a fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds go to help support the teams. Entering a fun race is a great way to challenge yourself and to be in to win some great swag!

Various race lengths are available all ages and abilities. This is a freestyle race, and a classic track will be set for those wishing to classic ski the race. Participants will receive a pancake brunch after the event and be entered into a raffle drawing for some great swag.

Prizes will be donated by friends, families and businesses that support the school teams.

When: Sunday, March 26, 2023
Time: Race starts at 9AM; facility opens/bib pick up from 7:30AM
Cost: TBA

A long sentence about this winter offers some perspective about this season in the mountains⁠
⁠
❄️ This winter has left me nearly speechless but not quite because how on God’s green earth turned snow white can anyone be quiet while looking out on a sunny Bishop day while pondering how 40-plus feet of snow swamped Mammoth and swallowed houses and closed Yosemite National Park while by some miracle of heavy equipment and muscle power a huge ski hill with dozens of lifts keeps chugging away and hauling paying customers and hard-core locals up the slopes without losing any of them and also giving them rooms at the inn and food just like their business counterparts in Mammoth Lakes who somehow keep showing up and keep serving up burgers and coffee and pizza and tacos while also keeping asphalt open to hotels and motels and B&Bs⁠

The Great Ski Race @thegreatskirace is not only a cross-country ski race – it’s a cherished celebration deeply rooted in the Tahoe area, and the main fundraiser for Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue (TNSAR) @tahoenordicsar. ❄️⁠

This year, The Great Ski Race is set to run on Sunday, March 5, and on-line registration is available until March 2. The challenging 26k loop course starts and ends at Tahoe XC in Tahoe City, and post-race festivities include hot food, live music, and prizes galore. 🥇⁠
