The Courage Project Launches Fall Donation Drive

The Courage Project, based out of the Tahoe area, provides free access to professionally-guided mindfulness adventures and evidence-based coping skills to all children in need, regardless of financial means.

This winter, the non-profit organization plans to to offer 50 free spots for children with anxiety and depression to get out in nature, get comfortable being uncomfortable and learn mindfulness based coping skills that they can apply in daily life.

 A $30 donation will provide one child with equipment, a beanie, backpack, snack and water bottle so they can get the most from their day on the mountain.

Anxiety and depression limit children from seeing all that they are capable of achieving. The Courage Project is here to change that. By compassionately and thoughtfully introducing children to inspiring mountain adventures in world-class Lake Tahoe, The Courage Project provides children with experiences that challenge their expectations regarding their capabilities. The organization’s goal is to help children with anxiety and depression believe in their ability to live their lives to the fullest. With the help of incredible volunteers and a team of amazing athletes, The Courage Project is making a difference in the lives of children and families, one adventure at a time.

How does The Courage Project welcome children to participate in its adventures for free? Thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors like you.

For a single child to attend an adventure, a myriad of resources need to come together: equipment, training, permits, and insurance. This adds up. For a child to attend a climbing, paddling, or skiing adventure, plus receive evidence-based coaching would typically cost well in excess of $100 per child – but we don’t charge for our adventures.   We are committed to keeping our adventures free for our participants.
