Photo: Chris Bartowski The High Fives Foundation is awarding Tahoe residents Taylor Fiddyment, Jason Abraham and Jeff Andrews board-approved Empowerment Grants totaling $14,820 to aid in their respective recoveries. Truckee resident Taylor Fiddyment was injured while riding a four-wheeler with friends in May 2011. Fiddyment’s goals have remained the same since entering the world of spinal cord injury recovery – to be the best person she can be, and spread joy and positivity to others. “My recovery goal is to be strong in body and mind,” said Fiddyment. “I want to make other people’s down days better.” Fiddyment received a grant for $4,560 to be used toward massage and chiropractic work to pair with her personal training at the CR...

Clark County Commissioners are considering a request to rezone land that’s currently deemed rural, which would result in the destruction of Red Rock’s landscape, bringing pollution and traffic to the area and enraging the two million visitors who use the RRCNCA each year as a destination for climbing, hiking, biking and camping. The proposed development is on land that borders RRCNCA. Lawsuit seeks to silence group’s opposition to high-density development in Red Rock Canyon Press Release // Las Vegas, NV – Clark County has filed a preemptive lawsuit against Save Red Rock (SRR), a grassroots conservation organization that has worked for over a decade to protect the rural, recreational and scenic nature of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA). The lawsuit is an attempt to silence SRR’s opposition to a concept plan presented by developer Jim Rhodes’ Gypsum Resources, LLC (Gypsum) that asks the County to rezone land currently deemed rural to a non-conforming high-density zoning. The Gypsum plan includes a 2,010-acre development with more than 5,000 homes on Blue Diamond Hill, located within Red Rock Canyon adjacent to the RRCNCA.
