Gravel riders take on the Colby Mountain backcountry for a good cause
The Butte County Gravel Grind rolls back into Butte Meadows on Sunday, July 13, 2025, with three challenging and scenic route options through the Colby Mountain Recreation Area. Hosted by Chico Velo, this fundraiser supports local trail development efforts including the Colby Mountain Project.
Riders can choose between a 52-mile, 38-mile, or 24-mile untimed route. All rides include a rest stop at the historic Colby Mountain Lookout and finish with a hearty post-ride meal at the Butte Meadows Mercantile. Categories include open class, youth, tandem, and adaptive cycle.
Camping and cabins are available nearby. Registration fees range from $50–$100, with early bird pricing through May 31.
