Mark your calendars and start scoping your clean-up location today! From September 22nd to September 27th, the Yosemite Climbing Association (YCA) will host the 17th Annual Facelift: Act Local with co-presenting sponsor, The North Face, and co-host and official vehicle, Subaru. Facelift 2020: Act LocalĀ calls on you to connect with your love and appreciation of Yosemite National Park and apply the same care to the outdoor spaces around you, locally! Programming will be presented virtually online and participants will have opportunities to win prizes by engaging through social media. From 2004, Yosemite Facelift has resulted in the removal of over 1 million pounds of trash from Yosemite National Park. This year, due to COVID-19, the YCA has decided to shift to a virtual event, but will feature the same high-quality evening programming and prizes that volunteers enjoy at the physical event. The YCA and organizers areĀ very excited about the opportunities this event may create in all of our local outdoor spaces and with new partnering organizations.
The objective of Facelift: Act Local is for you to pick up litter and engage in service projects around home and in your local parks, safely. The stewardship volunteers have practiced in Yosemite is just as important at your local crag, or even your neighborhood park. This year, the YCA is calling on the thousands of Yosemite Facelift volunteers that flock to the park every year, to pick up trash closer to home. While following local guidelines for social distancing and minimizing the risk of spreading COVID-19, please tag the event with #FaceliftActLocal and your photos and videos may be shared on social media sites and the webpage! You might even win some great swag from one of their sponsors.
