This river safetyĀ tip will keepĀ both you and your board safe

By Haven Livingston

Before you strap a leashĀ on your riverboard or SUP and head toĀ the nearest whitewater, hook yourself upĀ with a river specific quick release waistĀ belt.

Leashes open the door to dangerousĀ entanglement hazards on a river. When youĀ become separated from your board leashes canĀ catch on rocks. Surf style leashes leave youĀ dangling by the ankle and unable to reachĀ down to release it with the current pushingĀ you underwater. Ankle release straps are aĀ no-no in rivers; currents are stronger thanĀ you think!

Check out NRS waist belts for aĀ better option.
