Northstar opens the season’s first halfpipe plus more trails this Friday, Jan. 9 2015
Tahoe’s popular ski resort will open this winter’s first halfpipe Friday, Jan. 9 2015, in addition to more trails. Located on Pipeline trail and accessible via Vista Express, the halfpipe is a popular and highly-anticipated feature among Northstar’s terrain park users. Its addition allows for a contiguous, uninterrupted terrain park descent from the top of Pinball Park, which currently offers guests access to 46 features, into the Pipeline Park, which hosts the halfpipe.
Recent weather patterns brought very cold temperatures, allowing for extensive snowmaking efforts at the halfpipe’s location. With the recent opening of The Islands and Castle Peak on The Backside, Northstar now offers 70 open trails. Friday’s halfpipe opening will be a great addition to the resort’s three open terrain parks, which collectively offer more than 70 features for all levels of progression. Prosser, an advanced slope on Lookout Mountain, also opens Friday.
From beginner through advance levels, Northstar California Resort’s terrain and progression parks are an important element to instruction for both skiers and snowboarders. January is Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month, and students are already enjoying some of the resort’s famed Terrain-Based Learning.
