Surf photographer Trent Stevens caught the vibe perfectly as Mavericks officially woke up this week. Despite the expletives you can sense the urgency as the situation unfolded in this video taken on Thursday. Also worth noting is the SUPer desperately paddling to escape over the wave. If you look carefully you can see that he or she bails into the water and (mostly) escapes the fury of the monstrous wave. Watercraft entering the water to shoot video of big wave surfers at Mavericks also face significant peril of getting caught inside. Still, we must recognize the incredible daring it takes to drop in at Mavericks on a surfboard. These are world class surfers putting their lives on the line. Stay tuned!
