“Pineapple Express” storm brings big waves to Lake Tahoe

Extraordinarily high winds from a huge storm made for an usual turn of events on Lake Tahoe today. Wind gusts up to 140 mph in the Tahoe area created waves that reportedly reached 7 feet, which adventurous surfers couldn’t resist despite temps under 40 degrees at the alpine lake.

The storm, dubbed the “Pineapple Express” because of where it started near Hawaii, apparently had more in common with the Land of Aloha than just its origin!
