The Pacific Coast Triathlon invites young and old, experienced and beginner athletes to join us at beautiful Crystal Cove, Laguna Beach for a great race.

SWIM

1/2 mile through the beautiful pacific ocean at crystal cove state beach with full lifeguard support and comfortable wave sizes

BIKE

12 miles on a scenic two loop closed course
on pacific coast highway

RUN

3 miles on the gorgeous Crystal Cove Trail and through the Crystal Cove Cottages with aid stations every mile

Day of the Event

5:00 AM: Gate opens at Venue – Crystal Cove State Park, Reef Point Dr, Newport Coast, CA 92657

5:15 AM: Packet Pick up for VIP and those that purchased Race Day Pick up opens

5:30 AM: Transition opens – VIP Lounge Opens

6:30 AM: Course Talk

6:55 AM: Transition areas close

7:00 AM: First Wave of Triathlon starts. Wave assignments will be in Athlete Email the Tuesday before the race and posted on FAQ’s.

7:30 AM: Duathlon Starts

8:00 AM: Expo Opens at Finish Line. Food available for athletes.

9:00 AM: Awards Ceremony

11:00 AM: Transition closes Pacific Coast Triathlon & Duathlon

🧗 Also in this issue, Doug Robinson, known as the “Father of Clean Climbing,” returns with part two of his clean climbing manifesto. His revolutionary ideas, first introduced in the 1972 Chouinard catalog, challenge climbers to reflect on their impact on nature.

📜Building on this theme of responsible climbing, we also highlight the Yosemite Climbing Associations Climber’s Credo, a grassroots agreement developed to address the proposed nationwide fixed anchor prohibition in Wilderness areas. This initiative promotes ethical climbing practices and aims to influence future regulations to preserve access.

🌲 Other stories include the Inyo Mountain Wilderness, solo bikepacking in the Lost Sierra, the indigenous-led effort to restore and paddle the Klamath River, climbing Mexico’s volcanoes, and the return of great white sharks along California’s coast.
