Mammoth Mountain is one of the premiere mountain resort destinations in the country. Located high in the Eastern Sierra of California, Mammoth has been a favorite vacation spot for generations. Long known for big snowfall and long ski seasons, the 2022/23 snow season was one for the record books. Mammoth Mountain received over 700 inches of snow and stayed open for more than 270 days of skiing and riding. While skiers and riders reveled on the snow well into summer, the Mammoth construction teams were hard at work replacing chairlifts, building new activities, and improving Mammoth’s already robust snowmaking system. There’s a lot of fun on tap this winter in Mammoth.

New for 2023/24

In December, crews cut the ribbon on the brand new Canyon Express (Chair 16). The six-passenger Doppelmayr D-Line detachable high-speed chairlift provides 25% more uphill capacity helping to reduce lift line waits at Canyon Lodge. The enclosed top and bottom terminals allow carriers to be parked out of the weather during storm cycles and help ensure on-time openings on bluebird powder days.

Kids of all ages can take a ride on the all-new Mountain Coaster at Woolly’s Adventure Summit. The new Wiegand Alpine Coaster offers a thrilling ride through the forest down through exciting curves, spiral twists and roller jumps through the forest, descending 3,550 ft.

Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center

Explore the Mammoth Lakes Basin on cross-country skis or snowshoes for some scenic family adventures or butt-kicking fun across 19+ miles (30+ kilometers) of secluded, groomed world-class trails. Rentals, lessons, guided tours and season passes are available from the Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center, located at Tamarack Lodge.

June Mountain

Located just 20 miles north of Mammoth, June Mountain is a must-do stop for those looking for something a little different. June Mountain is a local’s favorite, with wide-open groomed trails and tree-lined chutes. You can still find fresh tracks at June days after a snowfall. And the best part? Kids 12 and under ski free – every day, no strings attached!
