  1. The Tahoe/Truckee area can not handle any more people regardless of their mode of transportation. The taxpayers would end up paying for it as they do with Am-Track & will do if the high speed rail system is a go. I would change my opinion on both if it was 100% privately financed w/ no govt. intervention.

  2. It’s incredible that train service between the Bay Area and Truckee is as limited as it currently is! With a little fine-tuning of track, and some train cars already used for crossing mountains in Europe, a train ride from Emeryville to Truckee could be made in 4 hours. Even on a clear day with no chains, that’s hard for a car to beat.
