The Fourth Annual Carson City Off-Road is dedicated to Carson City native and visionary trails community leader, Joel Dunn. Born and raised in Carson City, Dunn has not only witnessed the evolution of Nevada's state capital but has also been a driving force in its transition into a recreation-focused community.
From beginners to seasoned weekend warriors and full-time pros, each Epic Rides Off-Road Series event welcomes mountain bikers of all experience levels with three different length courses (15, 30, or 50-ish miles) that challenge the mind and body plus deliver inspiring views of nature’s beauty.
I was excited to spend Father's Day at the third annual Carson City Off-Road mountain bike festival. In past years, I worked the event to represent Adventure Sports Journal and cheer on all the racers, but this year was different.
The Carson City Off-Road is the third stop on the Epic Rides Off-Road series. Participants will climb their way into the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada, take in huge views of Lake Tahoe, Washoe Valley and the Carson Valley while connecting some of the area’s favorite (and challenging) pieces of singletrack, double track, gravel roads and the occasional paved segment.
One of the most iconic singletracks in America — the Marlette Flume Trail — has been added to the 3rd Annual Carson City Off-Road course thanks to cooperation with the Humboldt-Toiyabe Forests and Spooner Lake State Park Ranger District.
Entries are still available for the Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge, a Santa Cruz-area road cycling event set to take place Saturday, July 29, 2023.
