60th Annual Nevada City Classic Welcomes the Gold Country Cycling Challenge Road and Gravel Rides along with the Fat Tire Festival, YBONC and Brewfest

Nevada County is brimming with cycling experiences, from beautiful but challenging road and gravel rides, to ProAm Races with deep history. NEVADA CITY, California, January 15—2020 marks the 60th running of the Nevada City Classic ProAm Cycling Criterium, the second oldest continuously running ProAm Criterium in the U.S. The race will be held Sunday, June 14, 2020 with many related Cycling events also on Saturday June 13,  including the Rotary Gold Country Cycling Challenge road ride and Big Brothers/Big Sisters Gravel Ride Challenge 2020 with a 63 and 42 mile gravel ride,  the Annual Nevada City Fat Tire Festival, and the Nevada City Brewfest. Watch for more exciting news to come as the Nevada County Cycling Festival weekend nears.

The Nevada City Classic Pro/Am Criterium race is a demanding, scenic course, requiring racers to navigate sharp, high speed turns, climb steep hills and speed down the famous Broad St. descent, all while circling classic, postcard-beautiful Victorian homes on the narrow Gold-Rush era streets.

Cyclists can spend Saturday riding the Rotary’s Gold Country Cycling Challenge Road (100, 75, 55, and 35 mile options) and Big Brothers/Big Sisters Gravel Ride Challenge 2020 rides or enjoying the many world-class Nevada City MTB trail systems, before heading to the Fat Tire Festival and Brewfest Saturday evening.

Nevada City Brewfest is Saturday June 13, 2020 from 6 to 9 pm. at the Three Forks Bakery & Brewery parking lot on lower Commercial Street in Nevada City. Brewfest features many local breweries with plenty of fresh, craft beer on tap, live music and food trucks on hand to mellow out a day of riding. Come taste the finest craft beers from our regional breweries. Bring your friends to enjoy great beer (unlimited tastings), music, food and good times. (Note: Gold Country Challenge fees includes Brewfest admission.)

The 2nd Annual Nevada City Fat Tire Festival celebrates all things Dirt; Mountain Biking, Gravel/CX and Bike-Packing, with an evening street fair full of popular industry vendors and more. This event is held on Nevada City’s Broad Street Saturday from 5-10 pm.

Youth Bicyclists of Nevada County (YBONC) is featuring Race 4 in its California Dirt MTB Series on June 13, 2020 with a great dirt race on the Dascombe Trail System in Nevada City. This is a YBONC fund-raiser.

The 3rd Annual Nevada City Classic “Mile” Run begins Sunday morning, immediately following the Kids Bike Parade. The Run allows top runners from around the West Coast to test their sneakers against the same challenging course the cyclists navigate throughout the day. Kids on bikes down Broad Street is a Sunday morning favorite—all a great warm-up for the Nevada City Classic, which begins Sunday immediately following the family-friendly fun.
