Eppie’s Great Race

Eppie’s Great Race, proudly presented by Eppie’s Wellness Foundation, is known as “The World’s Oldest Triathlon.” This historic event has been a cornerstone of the Sacramento area’s athletic community for decades, bringing together elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and families for a day of spirited competition and community support. The race not only challenges participants with its unique combination of running, biking, and paddling but also serves a greater purpose by raising essential funds for the Sacramento County Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS). These programs provide invaluable support to people of all ages with special needs and developmental disabilities, ensuring they have access to recreational activities that enhance their quality of life.

Eppie’s Great Race is more than just a triathlon; it’s a summertime tradition that unites the community in the spirit of wellness and philanthropy. Participants will traverse the scenic American River Parkway, starting with a 5.82-mile run that winds through the natural beauty of the area. Following the run, athletes will embark on a 12.5-mile bike ride, a course that offers both challenge and breathtaking views. The race concludes with a 6.10-mile paddle along the serene waters of the American River, a unique aspect of this triathlon that sets it apart from other races.

  • 8:00 AM – All Ironpersons & Relay Teams

The Epic Challenge, which kicks off the event, is a specially designed category that allows individuals with disabilities to compete and showcase their determination and athleticism. Following closely behind, the Ironpersons and Relay Teams take to the course, each competitor ready to push their limits and achieve personal victories.
