This summer, Mt. Shasta Bike Park is throwing down the gauntlet when it comes to mountain bike racing. First, they’re partnering up with A Singletrack Mind to host an all mountain gravity clinic June 22-23, 2019 to help locals and visitors alike to get ready for the race season. This will then be followed by the Full Tilt Enduro series stop on June 29 and the Mt. Shasta Enduro (California Enduro Series Round 3) on July 13.
What to expect at Mt. Shasta Bike Park
Nestled on the flanks of the looming volcano known simply as Mt. Shasta, this quaint ski resort transforms in the summer into a fun and enjoyable mountain bike park. While only in their fourth season, the staff is passionate about the sport and continue to double down on improving AND expanding the trail network. New for 2019, they’ve now invested in building/designing new wooden bridge features. These will add a more technical and unique/extreme element so that riders can challenge themselves. Alongside the phenomenal views of Shasta and Castle Crags, expect well maintained trails that twist and turn through old growth forests, flow sections filled with manicured berms and rollers, and even a few booters to go with it!
Big investments mean big races
You can tell that all the sweat, blood and beers that the Mt. Shasta Ski Park team has put in has gotten the mountain biking community excited because they’ve been given the opportunity to host TWO new events. Up first, the Northwest’s brand new three-race enduro mountain bike series called Full Tilt has chosen to have one of their stops there on June 29. Then on July 13, California Enduro Series will welcome the Mt. Shasta Enduro to its line up, giving everyone from amateurs to pros alike a chance to ride a fresh riding zone that many aren’t familiar with.
All Mountain Gravity Clinic – perfect prep for upcoming race season
For those serious about the upcoming mountain bike race season, the All Mountain Gravity Clinic hosted by A Singletrack Mind and Mt. Shasta Ski Park is the clinic to put on your schedule. Dylan Renn, the coach/owner at A Singletrack Mind, provides the unique opportunity to learn from someone who ranked professionally for over 15 years. Even now, Renn still coaches multiple Bay Area and Sierra cycling teams, so you know you’re learning from the best. This clinic isn’t just for race prep, either. It’s an opportunity for riders of all levels to refine their overall gravity mountain bike skills. Ride the Shasta bike park with efficiency and confidence as well as your favorite trails all season long.
Explore Mt. Shasta area mountain bike trails
And once you’re done with competing … consider spending another day exploring the network being built/maintained by the Mount Shasta Mountain Bike Association. Ignited by local mountain bikers wanting to create a multi-use trail on federal lands, the first phase was completed in fall 2011. Known simply as the Gateway Trail, it represents both a gateway to the National Forest from town and also a first step toward building a local network of multi-use trails linking neighboring communities in the Mount Shasta region.
Who’s the All Mountain Gravity Clinic for?
So, if you’re eager to build up your skill set on the mountain or want to better prepare for the upcoming Full Tilt stop on June 29 and the Mt. Shasta Enduro (CES Round 3) on July 13 at Shasta, this is the clinic for you. We’re excited to ride with you in the clinic & hope to see you there!
