The Vulcan Quarry Crusher Run is your chance to do just that as it is one of the most challenging and unique running events in the nation.
You’ll run or walk a route that winds down a 10% to 16% grade through hard rock cliffs to the floor of an operational quarry … then hump it back up to the finish line.

On Saturday, November 2, Vulcan Materials Company will host its national series Quarry Crusher Run at the Chula Vista Quarry in San Diego County, California to benefit the Chula Vista Firefighter’s Foundation.
Since the very first Quarry Crusher Run in 2012 at the Columbia Quarry in South Carolina, Vulcan Materials Company has hosted 21 races, in seven states, with brave participants running or walking, while raising more than $299,000 for charity and community partners (2012-2018). The Quarry Crusher Run has expanded into a series of races at Vulcan Materials’ quarries in Atlanta, Birmingham, San Antonio, Chula Vista, Nashville, and Kingsport. And this year the series expands adding quarries in Chicago and Manassas, Virginia.
The Quarry Crusher Run at the Chula Vista Quarry offers two races: the 5k Crusher ($40 registration fee), and the 10k Double Crusher ($50 registration fee)! All race participants will receive a t-shirt and custom finisher’s medal. Prizes will be awarded for overall winners and age group placers. Registration for the race is now available online (runners/walkers must be at least 12 years of age and sign a waiver prior to participation).
